Anthony Gervais is an award winning choreographer, professional dancer and a dance teacher. Though he had a passion for dance since the age of 6, he didn’t start his classical training until the age of 17. Since then, he has graduated from Cégep de Drummondville and completed post-secondary training in dance which included classical training in the Cecchetti method in ballet, Simonson in modern jazz and a diversity of modern technique. He performed José Navas, Mark Boivin and La Grande Fente repertoire with the professional dance program of the Ecole de Danse Contemporaine de Montreal (2014). He then did an apprenticeship at a professional dance company, Les Ballets Eddy Toussaint de Montréal, where he received great training in Vaganova method. He danced professionally with the company as a principal dancer in Adje Banda as well as held corps de ballet and soloist roles in Souvenance, Bolero of Ravel, Dracula, Nutcracker, Zorba the Greek, Carmen at Black Expo Design, and Édith Piaf at FACONODAPDS Gala (2014-2016). Anthony also worked with Shérane Figaro (2016) and Caroline Rochefort (2017). He has obtained his certifications up to the grade 8 professional level in tap with honour, ballet and jazz with distinction.

He is proficient in and has taught a variety of styles including ballet, contemporary, modern, jazz, lyrical, tap, variety, hip hop, ballroom, and more. For the last four years, he taught across Alberta and Saskatchewan at a chain of dance studios and has had a few contracts to perform on a multitude of stage, theatre and in films. He was published in the magazine Salyse (2018), multiple times in the magazines The Mob Journal and FIENFH (2021) and he was on the cover page on the September 2021 issue for FIENFH. He performed at the Western Canadian Fashion Week (2018 & 2019) and also in Stanley Carol’s virtual fashion show (2020 & 2021). With Frame Production, he was featured as a dancer in the film Disguise (2020), a soloist in the short film Perfection and the principal artist in the film Born to Be Me (2021). As part of a school rehabilitation program to help with drug addiction, he performed and taught for many projects on multiple native reserves in Alberta and Saskatchewan to help raise awareness about mental health (2019-2022).

As the dance season 2021-2022 ended, he moved to the Greater Toronto Area with his partner, who is a family medicine resident doctor at McMaster University and a social media influencer. Since then, Anthony has performed in the Nutcracker in Oakville as a Principal Dancer in multiple roles (2022). He also has choreographed multiple pieces that have been awarded at YAGP and other competitions. He also has recently performed in a contemporary piece that he staged in Oakville (2023). Anthony is always looking forward to exploring and expanding his experience and is excited to continue sharing his dance journey through performing, choreographing and teaching.
